For The Best Experience In Hiking Puerto Vallarta Is Worth Visiting

By Sarah Green

Hiking is a term that is preferred in the United States and Canada for long, vigorous walks on footpaths in the countryside. Hiking is contrasted from walking, which involves short distances, and is usually confined to urban areas. There are several other words using to describe this activity in different places. Some common examples are rambling, tramping, hillwalking, fell walking, and backpacking among others. When in need of going hiking Puerto Vallarta is the best place to check out.

Hiking is a very old practice, with its roots going as far back as the eighteenth century. The idea is associated with the Romantic movement when people started to change the way they viewed nature and landscape. Prior to the 18th century, walking was an activity of the poor and was often linked to vagrancy. In 1819, Abel Crawford made an 8.5-mile trail leading to the summit of Mount Washington in the United States. This trail is currently the oldest walking trail in the country and it has a very huge annual traffic.

Long distance trails exist in many countries today. Examples include the UK National Trails, the Spanish Gran Recorrido, Grande Rota of Portugal, the US National Trail System, and the Grote Routepaden of Holland among several others. Several countries, including Belgium, Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, and Nepal have some of the longest trail networks.

There are several different kinds of tools and equipment people carry during a hike. The kind of equipment carried will often be determined by the length of the hike. People who go on day hikes generally bring food, water, rain-proof gear, and a map. Hiking boots are usually essential for mountain walking and backpacking. Maneuvering rough terrain require protection gear and some sort of stability equipment.

Different clubs for hikers recommend different items to hikers. Some of the items recommended by the Mountaineers hiking club include fire starter, knife, flashlight, sunscreens, trekking poles, a compass, sunglasses, and first aid kit. Other clubs recommend adding an emergency blanket, gloves, insect repellent, and a hat to the list. GPS navigation equipment and route cards are the commonest guiding equipment used.

In most cases, hikers prefer to venture out in large numbers, and this affects the environment negatively in several ways. For example, firewood collection is done for several years in a forested area, it is likely to become deforested. Similarly, hikers scare sensitive animals away from their natural habitats.

Rules have been devised to minimize the impact of hikers on the environment. These rules apply more in parks and other protected areas. For instance, wood fires are banned and camping must only be done in established campsites. There is also a quota on hikers and rules exist about how to dispose and pack faecal matter.

Human waste has a lot of impact on the environment because it can contaminate watersheds and cause diseases in other hikers. It is recommended to use catholes that are at least sixty meters away from water sources. The cathole must be deep enough and must be covered well after use.
