Temporary Housing And What You Should Know About It

By Carolyn Green

Some cities in the country prepare for seasons in a year when there are residents who are there to stay for only a few months that come in droves. They cannot be called tourists or regular travelers, and they are not there for visiting the attractions or shopping. And for most, good, comfortable and affordable accommodations, not luxury units, are the order of the day.

In the summer, interns come into the national capital in large numbers. They all need temporary housing Washington DC style, and the city have come to expect these tenants. They prefer places for lease that have kitchens, cooking appliances and other essential furnishing. These are not too big for single persons, but there are those who rent as a group to save on money.

Numerous online sites advertise rentals for housing units in the area. The Washington conurbation is the city where many travelers pass through, especially those pros, students or others who have business to do on Capitol Hill.

June to August is a season that peaks for rental owners, usually in terms of condo units or apartments. These units are up for very short leases, which is possible only because of the very large numbers in search of temporary living spaces. They are a population with legitimate business in the capital, whether for specialist jobs that last a few months or those who want to work in for congressmen and other government agencies as contractuals.

The pricing ranges are varied. There are the least expensive housing for those who prefer to spend less. The scale goes up to middle ranges where many want to stay. These have more perks than just the essentials, like room cleaning services and parking. Then, on the upper range are rentals labeled as Attache or ExecuStay, even SuiteAmerica. Those who go in for this are prepared to pay more.

The done thing for many big companies is to lease out for at least a one year period. They accept groups of tenants with firm agreements to fill out the entire schedule by staying in arranged short periods. This is a system that somehow works for all concerned.

Short term leasing has much bigger premiums than long term types. Yet many still prefer this as longer lease periods must obviously cost more. There is enough comfort provided in terms of accommodations, which even diplomats appreciate. Such items as pans and pots, beds and linen, are also much in demand, so much so that managers have them in stock.

Campuses on the district may have their dorms open for transients during the summer, accepting those on per day allowances as well as longer periods. A stay for a week can cost up to 200 or can go for 400 dollars. There are sites that lists transient housing like Trulia, Zillow and Hotpad, and the turnovers are efficient what with the high demand for them just like for any item in the city Washington DC.

People are always competing for all sorts of places when in area. They want to find the right combination of pricing, move in date and location, which is something of a challenge. For everyone, it takes a combination of good research, compromise, wheeling and dealing with fellow travelers and some luck.
