To ease the process of learning how to ride the horses, experts suggest that instructors should use horses that have been ridden for some time. This is due to that having a horse familiar with the process will be better than having both the horse and its rider as beginners. Furthermore, experienced horses are easier to control and handle.

Horses are able to feel what their rider is feeling. With this in mind it is necessary for riders to always be calm and act as if they are sure of what they are doing although this might not be the case. By doing this, they are able to calm the horse as well and thus make them easy to control and ride.

Beginners often find how to handle the horse reins as the most difficult step in their process of learning how to ride horses. However, with time and practice, they will find it easier to do so. It is also important that beginners have a specific style to ride horses that they want to learn. There are basically two types western and British and the style chosen is dependent on preferences.
