While it is possible to explore the music history of Memphis and Nashville on self guided tours, there is a new option in Nashville. For, there is now a guided Music Row Walking Tour. The main difference between a guided and self-guided experience is often a guide who provides a historic narrative about different stops along the route.

As local history and culture is quite varied, the tour can not cover everything in 90 minutes. Still, the tour takes visitors through the heart of music row. When looking for more information on various tours, most in Nashville are listed in a number of local and national travel guides.

Still, the walk through the row is often a favorite among visitors to the area. For, Nashville would not be Nashville without the many musicians and fans whom shaped and still are shaping the city. As a result, the guided walks which focus on a number of different musicians and neighborhoods at different times in history are quite popular.

The journey continues to spots which have inspired classic and current artists. For example, in the 1980s, there was a rebirth with regards to the popularity of classic country. In fact, many of those whom had become famous in the past, such as Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton as well as others were once again topping the country charts. The walk which runs an hour and a half provides a behind the scenes narrative which includes recording and promotion as well as song writing. While many recording studios and publishing houses can be accessed on self-guided walks, most require an appointment for individuals whom are not part of a group. In addition, while most often admission fees are covered in the price of a ticket, some require a nominal admission fee or requested donation for individuals. In either case, there are often discounts available from organizations such as Triple A and AARP.

Currently the walks occur on Wednesdays through Saturdays though it is important to call ahead to assure a tour is going to take place. In addition, there can often be long lines to obtain tickets, especially during the Summer which is often the most popular and populated with regards to various operators. As such, operators advising obtaining tickets in advance when and where possible.
