Importance Of Jewish And Christian Wedding Rabbi

A wedding is a sacred occasion that is deeply respected across all communities and faiths. It marks the starting of a new chapter in the life of brides and grooms to be. Jewish and Christian faiths tend to have different ways of carrying out the wedding but as a common feature, both recognize the important role to be played by a religious figure referred to as Jewish and Christian Wedding rabbi, in these sacred ceremonies.

Among the Jewish, weddings are full of meaningful rituals that are meant to be a symbol of beauty of the relationship between a husband and wife as well as their obligations to one another and to the entire Jewish community. Basically, it has to happen for one to be recognized as either someones husband or wife.

The ceremonies usually vary but there are common characteristics which feature in most these weddings. The Signing of a marriage contract between a bride and groom forms a major feature in the weddings. Other distinct features include sanctification and dedication of a couples lives to one another which not only involves the public but the law too.

This religious leaders have an important role to play in Jewish wedding ceremonies, but is mainly involved in two primary functions. First being to make sure that the entire ceremony is carried out according to Jewish law and customs. This entails making sure that the marriage contract is in order. The other function is that of blessing that involves exchange of rings and reciting of blessing to the bride by the groom.

Christian marriages are also a very happy affair that is seen as a blessing from God. Marriage is regarded a holy union between a man and a woman and hence the need to involve a religious figure such as a priest in such occasions to officiate the union and make it official to the public.

There are a number Christian denominations such as Protestants and Catholics that conduct their weddings ceremonies in different manners but the sacredness of the event remains the same. Apart from being conducted in a church, most involve singing and dancing and also the reading of bible sermons to emphasize the importance of union of marriage.

A Christian rabbi is heavily involved in the proceedings of wedding ceremonies. Their primary role is to preside over the function, by reading sermons on topic of marriage. He also emphasizes on the importance of marriage as an institution to the whole congregation in attendance. He or she also recites the vows to the groom and bride, blesses the union while overseeing the exchange of rings.

Jewish and Christian intermarriages have become popular in recent times. Due to the similarity of these rituals and traditions observed by both faiths during wedding, such ceremonies have been conducted smoothly. Common rituals shared include, the exchange of vows and reading of sermons. These intermarriages also provide opportunities to share and adopt other practices from either faith.
