Fundamentals Of Lincoln City Hotels

By Jerry Carter

A hotel refers to an establishment or facility in which people can pay for short-term lodging services. The variety of services offered in these facilities varies a lot. In some cases, only a bed and a locker for storing clothes is provided while in others, everything one needs is available. The facilities provided may depend on the size of the hotel among other factors. Lincoln City hotels are some among the best in the world. Thus, they are worth visiting.

An inn, mostly prevalent in medieval Europe is the precursor of the modern-day hotel. From mid seventeenth century, coaching inns dominated Europe where they were used by coach travellers mostly. The establishment of the first hotel as it is known currently occurred in Exeter in 1768. Both growth in number and demand of hotel rooms grew a lot in Western countries. By the end of nineteenth century, luxury hotels were already being established.

The word hotel has its origin in the French language, from the word hotel. It has the same origin as the word hospital. The word referred to a place where visitors frequented and received care as opposed to accommodation. Today, both the English and French words have the same meaning.

There is a lot of variance in the cost, function, and size of hotels. Accepted industry standards have been set to place these facilities in different categories or types. Some of the most common types are upscale luxury, full service, focused or select service, economy and limited service, historic inns and boutique, and extended stay hotels. Additional types are timeshare and destination clubs and motels.

An upscale full service hotel is a facility offering its guests luxury amenities. There is a high level of professionalism and personalization in the services rendered. Guests can access full-service accommodations and on-site full-service restaurants. Depending on country or local classification, classification of these facilities has a minimum of a 4 or 5 Star rating or 4 or 5 Diamond status. Some perfect examples include Conrad, Waldorf Astoria, Fairmont, Four Seasons, and Intercontinetal.

A full service hotel is an upscale full-service facility which offers a broad variety of on-site full-service restaurants, full service accommodations, and on-site amenities. One should expect to find swimming pools, children activities, ballrooms, on-site conference facilities, and health clubs at these facilities. Some examples of full service hotels include Westin, Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton.

Rooms in a hotel are usually numbered to make it easy for guests to identify them. When renting the room, some hotels may offer food or drinks as part of the arrangement. Some facilities offer minimum amenities and service to guests besides accommodation. These facilities are often more suitable to specific guests and serve only specific geographical areas.

There is general global consensus over hotel management as both a professional career and a field of academic study. Some of the degree courses one can undertake to work in this industry include business management and hospitality management studies. The head executive position is usually held by the general manager who is assisted by departmental heads. Other junior positions include middle management, line-level supervision, and administrative positions.
